VoxVault is distributed through the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. That page always shows the version currently available for your device.

VoxVault is a free download. You can activate a full-featured trial with 10 recordings for 14 days; it ends when either limit is reached. Failed and discarded attempts do not count.

After that, one $24.99 USD VoxVault Lifetime in-app purchase unlocks unlimited recordings and imports. Local App Store pricing may vary by country or region. There is no subscription, and recordings you already created always remain accessible.

Yes. Import one or several audio or video files from Files, or choose videos from Photos. VoxVault extracts the audio and runs the same on-device transcription and processing workflow used for a new recording.

Summary styles adapt the structure of an on-device summary to the conversation: General, Meeting, Student, Sales, Engineering, Interview, Medical Visit, or Legal. They guide what the Apple Foundation Model emphasizes; they do not send your prompt or transcript to a VoxVault server. You can edit the result and change styles later.

Readable mode creates a view-only cleanup of a transcript while preserving the verbatim source. If a safe cleanup cannot be produced, VoxVault keeps showing the original. Bookmarks let you mark a moment during recording or playback and return to that timestamp later.

Sync is optional and off by default. If enabled, supported library data is stored in the private CloudKit database attached to your Apple ID so it can appear on your devices. Audio has a separate switch and remains off unless you enable it. Voice profiles and semantic-search vectors stay on each device. VoxVault has no developer-operated sync server.

Recording, transcription, summarization, search, and speaker recognition all run on your device. VoxVault has no developer-operated backend or account. Private iCloud sync is optional and off by default; recording audio has its own separate off-by-default switch.

Two honest points of precision: (1) transcription runs on-device with WhisperKit, whose model ships inside the app (no download); Apple's on-device intelligence models used for summarization may be downloaded once by iOS the first time that feature runs, and those downloads never include your recordings. (2) Like other app data, recordings are included in your encrypted device backup unless you exclude them in VoxVault Settings.

VoxVault requires iOS 26 and runs on iPhone and iPad. Recording, transcription, speaker labels, search, and export work across supported iPhones and iPads. On iPad it uses a two-column library-and-detail layout and supports Split View and Stage Manager.

On-device summaries and action items use Apple Intelligence, which requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad (iPhone 15 Pro or later, or an M-series / A17 Pro iPad).

By default, VoxVault processes a new recording the moment you stop it: transcribing it, identifying speakers (if you've turned that on), adding a few topical tags, and summarizing it, with no taps. It all runs on your device, one step at a time to stay cool and battery-friendly. You can turn any step off in Settings → After recording.

Yes. Tap an action item's Reminders button (or "Add all") and VoxVault creates it in a "VoxVault" list in Apple Reminders, with the due date when one is set. This is create-only: VoxVault never reads or modifies your existing reminders. iOS asks for Reminders access the first time; iOS has no write-only reminders permission, so the grant covers read/write, but the app provably only ever creates.

Yes. From the share menu in a recording you can share the Summary, the Summary + Transcript, a clean multi-page PDF, or the audio file. Everything is generated on device.

English (U.S.) currently. Additional languages are being evaluated for later releases.

Yes. Recording, transcription, and summarization run on-device. Transcription works fully offline from the first launch — its WhisperKit model ships inside the app. The one exception is summarization: Apple's on-device intelligence models may need a first-time, one-time download that iOS handles and that needs a network connection that first time.

No. VoxVault records microphone audio inside the app. It does not record standard phone calls, and it does not capture system audio from FaceTime, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or other apps. Recording state is always visible, there is no secret recording.

Only if you opt in. Optional speaker recognition is off by default. It runs entirely on-device and comes in two parts:

• Automatic speaker separation labels distinct voices as "Speaker 1 / 2 / 3."
• Named recognition suggests names only for voices you explicitly enroll yourself.

Matches are probabilistic and shown honestly. Below high confidence they read "Possible …?" or stay generic, and you can always correct a label. Voice profiles are small on-device embeddings (not stored audio), never uploaded, and deletable at any time.

Recording laws vary by location, and you are responsible for obtaining any consent required where you are. VoxVault shows a consent reminder before recording and never hides that a recording is active.

iOS can interrupt recording for calls, Siri, audio-route changes, or low storage. VoxVault handles interruptions gracefully and, if a recording didn't finish, offers to recover the partial recording the next time you open the app. Recovery of a hard-interrupted file is best-effort.

Deleting a recording removes its audio file, transcript, summary, speaker labels, and action items in one step. "Delete All Recordings" in Settings removes everything from the device.

Because VoxVault runs no servers of its own, deleting in the app removes the data from your device immediately; if you enabled iCloud sync, the delete also propagates to your private iCloud and other devices. Copies inside previous device backups remain until those backups are replaced or expire; you can exclude VoxVault data from future backups in Settings.

• Transcription needs no download — its WhisperKit model ships in the app. If summaries stall on first use, that step may be fetching Apple's on-device intelligence models; give it a moment on Wi-Fi.
• Summaries require Apple Intelligence to be set up on a supported iPhone or iPad; if it's still preparing, try again a little later.
• Confirm Microphone permission is enabled in iOS Settings (transcription needs no separate permission — WhisperKit runs on the saved audio, on-device).
